Chua Wee Phong

Chief Executive (Markets), Constellar Exhibitions

Prior to Wee Phong's role as the Chief Executive of Markets (Events/Exhibitions) of Constellar Exhibitions, he was the Executive Vice-President of Circulation at Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) for 26 years.

He joined the Circulation Department at SPH as a manager in 1994 and eventually took over the Circulation Division as the EVP in 2005. Under his tenure, the Circulation Department has grown from a cost centre to a revenue centre covering distribution, marketing, consumer experience, retail, convenience stores and franchising.

Amidst his hectic job demands, Wee Phong never fail to fulfil his national duty by serving as a reserve after leaving the Army in 1994. He left the army as a major and rose to the rank of Colonel in 2005.

Wee Phong started Sphere Exhibits Pte Ltd in 2008, an SPH events arm as an Executive Director while holding the role in Circulation. He was instrumental in forming the right team members to scale the Company to what it is today. Sphere Exhibits was built organically from zero base to a $30Million Company and became one of the biggest event company in Singapore covering both B2B and B2C, with regional presence in Malaysia, Myanmar and Indonesia. Today, Sphere Exhibits has more than 35 exhibitions each year across Asia.

A strong believer of 'Passion drives business success', Wee Phong was hands-on and totally immersed in every aspect of the business, from developing strategies and steering the direction, forming cross-functional teams, resource planning and allocation, motivating and driving the team to work towards achieving the corporate goals. Every team member is a valuable asset to him.

As the Chief Executive of Markets (Events/Exhibitions), he envisions to build a passionate and innovative team that will strive to make a difference in what they do to become Asia's Number 1 events company.
